This is making me think that the less dynamic (flatter?) sound that I'm used to is probably due to Airplaying music from my Apple TV to the various speakers in my house. While doing some more tests, I noticed that if I play Apple Music through my Apple TV which routes thru my TV to my Sonos Beam, the sound quality and bass is increased (almost on par with Amazon Music but not exactly the same) versus just Airplaying the music from my Apple TV to my Sonos Beam (as I usually do). So it looks like I’m out of luck and will be sticking with Apple Music for now. I could also turn off the Loudness setting on the speaker but if I do that then other audio I listen to on the speakers, like Movies & TV, will most definitely sound flat instead. I could turn the bass down on the speakers but it‘s already reduced below zero and if I reduce it more, I find it flattens other aspects of the music.

It’s sad because I really want to switch to Amazon Music Unlimited but I can’t because the bass and punch is so noticeably drowning out other parts of the music. What’s weird though is that on the same speakers (ie Sonos Beam), I’m noticing Amazon Music Unlimited has way “more bass” and punch BUT to the point that it’s drowning out the vocals and midrange of the music. I’m retesting Amazon Music Unlimited again though this month because I think their music discovery suggestions are way better than Apple Music’s. I thought they both sounded great back then.
